Steephurst sponsors Senegalese child

By Jenni Brittain, Steephurst Housestaff

In line with Bedales’ international aims, Block 3 girls from Steephurst are sponsoring a 7 year old girl from Senegal. They met Mane Senghor through ActionAid, a charity working with the community of Djilor where Mane lives, and local organisation APROFES, to support families like Mane’s to learn about and gain rights to education, food, livelihoods, water, healthcare, and good governance. The charity gives good support to Bedales students, educating them in how to raise money, why the money is needed and how it is spent. Students aim to raise £75 by the end of term and last week held a cake sale which raised £45 putting them well on target. Watch out for some fun ideas to raise the remaining £30!
