Student’s 10 mile swim for charity

Block 4 student, Bea Jervis, was part of a team that participated in the Youth Philanthropy Initiative during the Autumn term in an attempt to win £3,000 for their chosen charity Fitzroy Support. Unfortunately, they didn’t make it through to the finals, so Bea decided to do a 10 mile swim instead to raise vital funds for the charity. Fitzroy Support was founded by Elizabeth Fitzroy in 1962 so that her son Michael, who suffered from Down’s Syndrome could lead a normal and happy family life, away from an institution. Elizabeth believed that everyone deserves equal opportunities and to be part of a community. The national charity, supporting over 500 people in over 50 locations, transforms the lives of people with learning disabilities, helping them live more independently at home and in the community. Bea would really appreciate any donations, big or small, which can be made safely online at
