Bedales hosts fun day for local families

For the second year running Bedales hosted a summer barbecue for Home-Start Butser, a local charity helping families with young children to cope with a wide range of difficulties. About 30 families came and started with a swim before lunch. The sport study room became a crèche for the day and children were entertained with face-painting, ball games and walks to see the animals in the afternoon. 13 volunteers from Blocks 3, 4 and 6.1 worked tirelessly with the children as well as rapidly shifting furniture to make last minute arrangements for indoor eating due to the rain. Gordon Dale and Jenni Brittain managed a brilliantly efficient barbecue, serving 100+ guests and helpers in about 15 minutes. Nicola Winter of Home-Start Butser said, “The family BBQ was a great success and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves and we are very grateful to you and Bedales for putting on such a lovely event for our local families.” View photos.
